Description This tour is designed to see as many species in one day as possible. We will pass through four different habitats being Coastal, Wetland, Farmland and Forest. It is the perfect tour for the nature photographer and the serious birder. We will be visiting areas with a high density of species so there is no need to rush around. You will have time to see, photograph and learn about each bird.

Itinerary The tour begins when you are collected from your hotel.  7am is the best time to leave however later pick-up times may be arranged.  We travel 40 minutes to the south west of Melbourne to the magnificent You Yangs Regional Park.  The habitat here is classified as a dry eucalyptus forest and is very easy to walk through.  The park is filled with honeyeaters, parrots, cockatoos and whistlers.  As well as the birds there is also a chance of Black Wallaby, Eastern Grey Kangaroo and Koala.

From here we travel across farmland to the Western Treatment Plant at Werribee.  This internationally recognised RAMSAR listed site is considered to be one of the best birding locations in Australia.  No matter what time of the year high numbers of species are found within the property.  It is a mecca for shorebirds, waterfowl, raptors and seabirds. We will have lunch at the plant although the priority on the day will be the birds.  After lunch we will continue to explore the many ponds, wetlands and coastal stretches that quite often turn up rarely seen birds.  We will continue until 4pm (later finishing times available) and then head back to your accommodation in Melbourne.
